Where is We Are Artistic based?

We Are Artistic is based in Washington DC.

Do I have to live in DC to be apart of We Are Artistic?

No! Anyone from anywhere in the world is allowed to sign up to volunteer virtually. However, you do need to reside in the DMV if you want to work at in-person events.

Can I get community service hours?

Of course. We have multiple ways hours can be earned such as by becoming a volunteer, becoming a director, attending events. Hours will be given based on time involved. If you need something signed or imputed on a website contact us at weareartisticgroup@gmail.com

I filled out your interest form how long does it take to hear back?

Thank you for filling out our interest form. It can take up to 2 days however we do our best to get back to you as soon as we can. 

Can I join for multiple departments.

We do advise attempting just one department to avoid burning out or overworking yourself. If you can handle multiple departments then go ahead.

I applied for a leadership role when will I hear back?

If we decide to proceed, you will hear from us in 3 days. 

Though I applied, I was never selected for a leadership position. Why?

Anybody can apply for a leadership position, but it will only be handed to the candidate who, based on experience and other considerations, best fits the position. You can still volunteer, though, as volunteering is open to everyone.

Can you help me pick a department?

You betcha! Give us a few examples of what you're good at so we can match you with the department that best suits you. 

I haven't heard from teams director what should I do?

Oh no! Email us at weareartisticgroup@gmail.com, and please include the name of the director. We will look into it to see why they haven't responded to communication. We want to create a positive experience for all volunteers.

Is We Are Artistic a 501(c)(3)?

Yes! We Are Artistic is fiscally sponsored by Hack Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our registered EIN is 81-2908499.

Event Volunteer FAQ's:

I would like to volunteer at events. How do I become a volunteer?

Great! Fill out our interest form and select "In Person Volunteer."

When will I hear back from you after completing your volunteer form?

We will respond to your inquiry within 2 days. Volunteer applications are responded to on a rolling basis.

What qualifications are needed to volunteer at events?

You must live in DC and sign our event volunteer agreement.

How will I find out about new volunteer opportunities for events?

If a new event is scheduled, we will send you an email with a Google Form link where you can select the time-slots for the event you want to volunteer at. 

Can I just volunteer once?

Yes, of course.

What time commitment is required of me when I volunteer at events?

You decide how much time you want to spend with us. 

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

You have to be at least 11 to be an in person volunteer.

What should I wear to volunteer?

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and please avoid wearing clothes with any NSFW sayings, homophobic sayings, transphobic sayings, etc.

What time should I arrive to events?

We suggest arriving at least half an hour before the event to help set up if you are a setup volunteer, but 10 minutes before if you are not a setup volunteer to make time to walk over or park if you drove.

I said I could come volunteer at an event, but now I can't. Is that OK?

We understand stuff can happen, so it is okay, but in the future, if you can, try to let us know 24 hours in advance.

Will there be lunch provided?

No, although occasionally there will be snacks and water offered. We always suggest bringing money for food.

Will a ride be provided?

Due to the many volunteers, rides will not be provided. However, many places we host events at will have a metro station nearby or a Metro bus stop.

I need to change my time slot can I?

Of course! Just email us!

Are we allowed to breaks during events?

Of course!! You can always take a break!

I have court mandated community service hours to fulfill. Can I volunteer with you guys?

Sorry, we do not currently accept court-mandated community hours. We possibly will in the future.

Can we get community service hours for volunteering?

We are an official 5013C, we are always happy to sign off on community hours if permitted by your school. To receive hours

If your school does not have a form we will provide a certificate and letter. 

If I take any photos at events should I tag you guys?

Yes. We would love for you to tag us, as we want to see any and all event pictures. Note that we can only share pictures from public accounts unless we follow you.

Is there anything I can't bring?

We request that you not bring anything NSFW and that you refrain from smoking, as our events are smoke-free and because we have a lot of youth who volunteer.
